Rental Terms
All vehicle rentals at Burntwood are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement, which you will receive upon booking confirmation or vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance information, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Burntwood Car Hire, you must be at least 21 years old, although age restrictions may differ based on the vehicle type, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. You need a valid driving licence suitable for the vehicle category, held for the minimum duration outlined in the Rental Agreement. Present valid identification and proof of your current address, along with valid payment details and a security deposit. Additional requirements may be specified in the Rental Agreement.
3. Reservations and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, over the phone, or directly at our Burntwood office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT when applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, processed securely through trusted payment platforms.
Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, it is your responsibility to conduct a thorough inspection and report any pre-existing damage without delay. A vehicle condition report will be prepared and signed by both parties. Ensure the vehicle is returned in the same state it was received, considering normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and charged as necessary. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as when it was collected; refueling fees will apply for any discrepancies. If you anticipate returning the vehicle late, please contact us promptly to avoid potential additional charges. You will be liable for any parking fines, traffic violations, or other charges incurred during the rental period, along with an administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance. Details regarding coverage and excess amounts are outlined in the Rental Agreement. You may have the option to purchase additional insurance to lower your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options thoroughly. You remain liable for damage or loss up to the excess amount unless additional insurance is obtained. Any damage resulting from negligence or misuse is your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
6. Modifications and Cancellations
Cancellation and amendment policies differ depending on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows could incur additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Use of the vehicle for any unlawful activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky actions is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is forbidden. The vehicle cannot be sub-let or driven by unauthorized individuals. Operating the vehicle while under the influence of alcohol or drugs is strictly prohibited. Usage must align with the vehicle's intended purpose, and drivers must adhere to passenger and weight limits. Travel outside the specified geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed by English and Welsh law, Car Hire Burntwood is not responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, that may arise from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims will not exceed the rental amount paid in the last 12 months. This does not affect our liability for death or personal injury resulting from negligence or fraud.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes will fall under the jurisdiction of their courts.
